Speak up- Don’t be a silent spectator

In Uncategorized on November 29, 2014 at 15:02

Speak up, because the day you don’t speak up for the things that matter to you is the day your FREEDOM truly ends

As kids, especially Indian middle class family kids, we learn to adjust. Its this adjustment that is taken for granted. When we are travelling with reserved tickets in train and people without ticket board the train, we adjust and share our seats with them. When anyone abuses a girl on the street, we wont speak up, we have our own comfort zone, because she is someone we are not related to, is not our friend. When we are driving on roads with potholes, we curse the government, but choose not to speak up and bring it to the notice of relevant authorities, we adjust. When we see our neighbour littering, we choose not to speak up, we adjust.

I visited Canada recently and was impressed by the state of cleanliness there. Why cant we keep our own nation as clean as we keep our own home? Canadians have made it a habit to not litter, let us also make it a habit. It takes only 21 days to build a habit. Let us teach our kids to not litter, then we will have a whole generation who will be aware of how important it is to keep the nation clean. Our prime minister Narendra Modi launched a campaign of Swachh Bharat, I was super impressed with it. The response it got from all actors, cricketers and people across India has been commendable. I ensure that i throw garbage in the bin. Post this campaign I have taken a vow to point to speak up, and stop others too from throwing garbage on the road, let us join hands to make India clean.

Every morning when I travel to work, I experience the trauma of having to go through potholes on the road, I make sure to raise this point on social media, tag relevant authorities to bring to their notice. There is a facebook campaign that is running to bring to the notice of Traffic police about non-conforming number plates. Things will change, all we need is to speak up.

When you see a girl being harassed on road, do not stay quiet, speak up. You have social media now to spread the word, reach the right authorities. Let us help build a nation that is more sensitive towards females.

Till when are we going to adjust, till when are we going to allow people to run over us, till when are we going to allow politicians to continue like this, its about time to speak up, speak for our rights, only then we can enjoy the freedom that has been gifted to us by our freedom fighters.

The Power of Voice to Clean India

There are places that need cleaning, people who deserve your attention & authorities who need to hear your opinions! Don’t be a silent spectator. Raise your voice and make a difference.

We know that raising our voices against all that is dirty in our country is a power that we all have. Let’s exercise the power of our voice & work towards a Swach Bharat.
