Well kill me for not updating you all. I went for the National Latin Ballroom Competition which was held in Delhi this time.
And guess what 😉 I won Gold in Single dance category. I performed the Samba with my partner. Maharashtra won the National trophy once again for winning the maximum number of gold. My instructors Dr Reesha Dhulap and Diego Pereira won the gold in 5 dance category which means they now go on to represent India in the coming Asian games in October.
Yes, latin ballroom dancing is a recognised sport and AIDSF actually stands for All India Dance Sport Federation which is affiliated to the IDSF or International Dance Sport Federation. For anyone who is interested, do type IDSF on youtube and check out the videos i’m sure you will like it.
For India, latin ballroom dancing so far has been restricted only to Salsa, and slowly people are now dancing Cha-cha too. There are many more dance forms in latin ballroom dancing that people in india have not yet heard of. I hope slowly there will be more people interested in these dance forms, and will take it up competitively. India is not doing that great on the international scene right now, but slowly i’m sure we will get there.
