Attachment and detachment

In Uncategorized on April 8, 2009 at 08:50

What drives people to commit to someone?
What makes people to cheat?
What makes people who are cheated , to make a new commitment with the cheater?

I have not found the answers to these questions, because so far i have been living in an idealistic world, where i considered that a commitment once made should not be broken.

Repeated betrayls have forced me to now beleive that appropriate strategy to deal with such cases is to ,”Not attach with anyone, stay detached. It is a good safeguard against the pain”.

There is a flipside to it too, “Whats life without taking some risk,…If there is no risk there is no excitement”.So if you want to have a piece of some action, stay put, dont back out. Slowly you will learn from the cheater, all the moves and you will be safe.

So crux lies in experiencing detachment, and moving back to a “Detached attachment” where yu stop feeling the pain of detachment.

A very confusing topic,i am glad i tried

  4. Do you really think one can cleanse of oneself with all impressions once imprinted on heart… ?
I feel detachment is not an easier task to achieve….. One , once born as human can never attain absolute detachment… for a time being it’s alright but for forever who can? No saint has ever attained it, isn’t it?

Idealistic world…. well, Plato had fussed a lot about it and I wrecked my brain on it like hell during grads 🙂 But, I feel there isn’t anything ideal and no one can ever be idealist because somewhere you tend to lose hold over everything…. then how can mere a human phenomenon idealism can stand?

    • welcome to the blog rarequibbles. Let me try to answer all questions one by one
1)Do you really think one can cleanse of oneself with all impressions once imprinted on heart… ?
Yes, one can. Needs effort, and help from people who have done it.
2)I feel detachment is not an easier task to achieve….. One , once born as human can never attain absolute detachment… for a time being it’s alright but for forever who can? No saint has ever attained it, isn’t it?
Its not an easy task yes, but not impossible. Practice will make you perfect. It talks about attachment and detachment together. To exist some impressions(read sanskaras) are needed. Read swami vivekanand, you will learn about this saint more 🙂
3)then how can mere a human phenomenon idealism can stand?
We have been hiding our innerself and showing what we like to show, to the outer world. However, a part of lord that is inside everyone of us should be shown, so inside to be brought outside. I have experimented, and suggested to people, and have seen them change for good 🙂

I hope I made some sense because this small post is not enough to discuss something so vast as this 🙂
