T20 World cup match 7,8:Ireland vs Bangladesh, Australia vs Srilanka

In Uncategorized on June 9, 2009 at 5:50 am

Should i call it a day of upsets, mmm not really i guess. Ireland beating Bangladesh may be termed as an upset, but Srilanka beating OZ is no more an upset. It however ensured that the Oz are now kicked out of the tournament. Nothing is going right for the Oz these days, racial abuse, then Symonds going back, seems like they will have a tough time in the upcoming Ashes series too.

The first match between Ireland and Bangladesh was good to watch as Ireland made a good run chase and defeated Bangladesh. Bangladesh did not play as well as they did against India. The Brian brothers (Nial and Kevin) batted really well. When Kevin said his favourite player was Andrew Flintoff, i wasn’t amazed, seems like he has modelled himself on him completely, right from the tall built to the way he hits sixes with ease. I am loving the upsets in this T20 world cup (as long as India reaches finals without any drama i’m fine). Bangladesh i thought was over confident about defeating the Irish side which is being coached by Phil Simmons (for those who can’t recall, he’s the West Indian who has managed to torment India in his hey days, read only India and no other team :P .Some cricketers always have to pick up India to return to form). T20 World cup Match 2,3,4:West Indies vs Australia,New Zealand vs Scotland,India vs Bangladesh

This world cup just does not stop to amaze you, the performance of the so called minnows keeps stunning you. Scotland, Bangladesh, Netherlands so far have demonstrated impressive performances and cannot be taken lightly or else the teams will feel the same way England feels right now.

West Indies defeated the Oz and it was a great news, I couldn’t see the match but Gayle certainly is back in form and a force to be reckoned with. I just love the way he bats, his lazy shots sailing past the boundary are a real treat, this guy bats in his own world, not fazed by the situation he is in.

Scotland did give a nice scare to New Zealand in a rain curtailed match, though Ross Taylor rescued them out this time. New Zealand is one team i think will make it into the semis this time.

India started okay in batting however had it not been for Yuvraj’s knock things would have looked really difficult. Yuvraj’s 41 of 18 balls was a treat to watch. Gautam and Dhoni wasted a lot of deliveries, and Dhoni the honest guy he is did acknowledge it during presentation ceremony. I think it was a bad choice for Dhoni to come at no. 3 instead of inform Raina, who couldn’t do much down the order. Rohit Sharma continues to impress, each time this lad bats I feel he has so much time to play his shots that he can play 4 shots of each delivery if he wants to :) . I was impressed by the way Bangladesh openers batted, Tamim in particular. If they keep their cool they can certainly create an upset or two going forward in the tournament.

Matches for today: South Africa is taking the match against Scotland seriously heheh thats what the news is, and they better do.

England will be fighting to stay in the tournament today, they play against Pakistan
